Job Description:  Comptroller
 
Leadership
v 

Being the chief custodian of the dealership’s accounting records, and assuring for the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial statement, daily operating report, and other required financial reports.

 
v 

Making continuous contributions toward the dealership’s goals for market leadership, superior customer loyalty, and returns on investment.

 
v 

Contributing to a work environment that fosters teamwork and cooperation; where employees can prosper; find rewards in their efforts; and, be continuously challenged to improve the performance of the dealership.

 
v 

Assisting the dealer and the department managers with the preparation of the annual business plan, monthly sales and profit forecasts, expense budgets, daily operating reports and offering recommendations and guidance to help assure that the dealership achieves its financial goals.

 
v 

Setting the standards for professionalism and integrity by which the business affairs of the company will be conducted.


Personnel
v 

Hiring, training, directing, and motivating an administrative staff that is capable of competently performing its duties and fulfilling its responsibilities to the dealership.

 
v 

Assuring that the dealership’s personnel policies and practices are in compliance with, and that its records are maintained in accordance with, all local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, safety, compensation, harassment, and discrimination.


Financial Management
v 

Assisting the dealer/general manager in the management of the dealership’s assets to assure that the business is at all times in a position to meet its financial obligations to its lenders, creditors, vendors, suppliers, and taxing authorities.

 
v 

Installing and maintaining a system of internal controls and operating procedures that will foster efficiency, provide useful management information, and protect the assets of the dealership from theft, loss, or unnecessary depreciation.

 
v 

Maintaining the dealership’s accounting systems and financial reports, and assuring the accuracy of such reports by periodically verifying the physical presents of the assets and reconciling the general ledger accounts to the appropriate underlying documents and schedules.

 
v 

Overseeing and directing the daily accounting activities and making certain all accounting tasks are being completed in a timely and accurate fashion, including, the processing of daily sales transactions, the timely collection of receivables and warranty claims, the processing of payables and payroll, the submission of taxes and returns, and other basic administrative functions necessary to the operation of the business.

 
v 

Managing the dealership’s various electronic data processing systems and computer systems to assure that; all users receive adequate training, that the systems are kept operating, continuously updated, fully utilized, and that the Comptroller’s Office and dealership are familiar with and using the most advanced technologies available. 


Business Relationships
v 

Assuring that the administrative employees conduct their affairs in a manner conducive to good citizenship within the community, and operate within the laws and regulations of all local, state, and federal jurisdictions. 

 
v 

Assisting the Dealer/General Manager in the development and maintenance of relationships and alliances with manufacturers, industry associations, suppliers, and vendors that promote the goodwill of the company and serve its interests best.

 
v
